                                                                  ----------------------------------------------------------------------

As of Saturday, 22 November 2025, the new timetable of the Athens Suburban Railway has come into effect, as part of Hellenic Train’s ongoing effort to improve passenger service and enhance the reliability of rail transport.

Under the new timetable, local services on the Ano Liosia – Kantza line are extended to Athens International Airport and will now operate every day of the week, while on the Airport – Metamorfosi section, services will run every 20 minutes, from Monday to Friday. These changes provide more departures and arrivals at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”, as well as improved service frequency across the northern section of the Suburban Railway.

The Suburban and Regional Athens Lines connect Attica and the wider region— including major cities such as Kiato and Chalkida— with the centre of Athens, the port of Piraeus, and Athens International Airport, enabling thousands of passengers every day to travel quickly, affordably, and reliably to and from their workplace.

At the same time, they offer access to significant archaeological sites and nearby tourist destinations, giving both residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy short trips and excursions.

Through the Regional Line Piraeus – Kiato, services connect Aigio and the wider Aigialeia area with Athens International Airport, Athens, and Piraeus. All services include a transfer at Kiato Station.

Tickets for the routes included in the new timetable are available for purchase through Hellenic Train’s digital channels and ticket offices.

Ticket Information

Tickets for the Regional Athens Lines are valid 1 hour before and 3 hours after the departure time shown on the ticket, without requiring passengers to visit a ticket office.

Ticket changes may be made at Hellenic Train ticket offices up to 10 minutes before the departure time shown on the ticket.

This policy does not apply to the “smart” interoperable tickets valid within the OASA zone.
