From 23.09.2023: holders of multiple journey cards of continuous validity on Larissa-Thessaloniki  line, which were valid between 07.09.2023 to 21.09.2023 have the right  to receive (at the stations ticket offices)   an extension of the card for an additional number of days depending on the expiry date of their card. The usage of the  extra days applies if the card has expiry date after 07.09.2023 and has not been cancelled.

 

Updated 20.09.2023:

1. Multiple journey card of continuous validity on Larissa-Thessaloniki   line:

Card holders, whose cards  have been issued for travel on a route that includes the Litochoro-Larissa section and specifically the stations of Rapsani, Leptokarya, Neoi Poroi and Larissa and are valid after September 5, 2023, can return their cards until 30.09.2023 at the station ticket offices and receive a cash refund equal to the price of the card per day multiplied by the number of additional days from 05.09.2023 to the expiration date of the card. From 01 October 2023, the pricing policy of cards cancellation with withholding  will apply.

 

2. Multiple journey card of continuous validity on Larissa-Volos line (with first day of validity before 05.09.2023):

  • Card holders, whose cards  were valid between 05.09.2023 and 08.09.2023, have the right  to receive (at the stations ticket offices)   an extension of the card for an additional number of days depending on the expiry date of their card. It is not possible to use the additional days if the card has been cancelled.
  • Card holders, whose cards have  first day of validity  before 05.09.2023 and have expired, have the right to  return their card to the ticket office and receive compensation for the 4 days that the card could not be used.

 

3. Cards for a certain number of journeys  on the Larissa-Volos route:

Card holders, whose cards have an expiry date after 05.09.2023 and they have not use their card for all the  journeys  until the expiry date of the card, are entitled to receive compensation proportional to the price of the card and the number of trips not made. Passengers must return their cards at the station ticket offices.

 


Updated 11.04.2023:

Hellenic Train informs its cardholders that cards issued before 1 March 2023 and valid from 01/03 to 21/03 (in whole or in part) receive the corresponding extension of days.

The above is applicable  from 12 April 2023.


Updated 08.03.2023:

Hellenic Train informs its cardholders that the following forms of compensation are foreseen for cards issued by the electronic system of Hellenic Train, valid after 01 March 2023 and applicable to all routes of the network.

 

1. UNLIMITED ROUTE CARDS

Passengers who have been issued multi-trip cards with validity in number of days (6, 15, 30 days & 3, 6, 12 months), have the right to deposit their cards at the station ticket offices and to be refunded without deduction in cash, a fee equal to the price per day of the card multiplied by the number of additional days from 01-03-2023 until the expiry date.

 

2. CARDS WITH TRAVEL NUMBER

Passengers who have been issued with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 return travel cards with a validity of 1 month and expiring after 01-03-2023, if not all the journeys have been made by the expiry date, have the right to deposit their cards at the station ticket offices and to be reimbursed, without deduction in cash, a fee equal to the price of the card divided by the number of journeys not made.

The above is applicable from 8 March to 12 April 2023.


Hellenic Train grants significant reductions to frequent travelers for trips on the same route. You may choose a Multiple Journey Card for a specific number of return trips or alternatively, a Multiple Journey Card for unlimited number of trips for a certain period of time.

 

The Multiple Journey Cards are valid on specific routes of Hellenic Train, such as

  • For the route Thessaloniki-Larisa. It is valid for travels in trains with no obligatory seat reservation on this route.
  • For the route Thessaloniki-Florina.
  • Monthly Multiple Journey Cards for the route Lianokladi-Stilida (25€-discounted price for University students 18€)
  • Monthly Multiple Journey Cards for the route Pirgos – Katakolo-Olympia.

             Katakolo-Olympia costs 30€

  • Regular and discounted price cards for the routes (zonal) of the Patras Suburban.
  • Monthly multiple journey cards will be in effect for the routes Thiva-Athens-Thiva (100€) and Livadia-Athens-Livadia (130€), for travels in trains with no obligatory seat reservation and for economy class. A supplement of 2€ per each reservation will be required for travels in trains with obligatory seat reservation.

Monthly Journey Card valid for connections with OASA’s public transports (metro, electric line, buses, trolley buses), which costs 27€ (discounted price 13,5€, transport by metro to Koropi station - express Airport bus line excluded ) or priced 45€ (discounted price 22,5€, transport to Athens Aiport).

 

For some of the above routes either cards are issued for a longer period of time or for a certain number of trips (with return).
