The safety of Hellenic Train's passengers and employees is our first priority

We continue monitoring the coronavirus situation closely and take action in accordance with public health experts' guidance.

In order to maintain a safe environment and address reasonable customer concerns, we take the following steps:

Passenger public

  1. Posters with hygiene measures have been posted on the trains.
  2. Antiseptics have been installed on the trains.
  3. The seats have been diluted so that there is no overcrowding on the trains (capacity reduction to 65%).
  4. Online ticketing is promoted to avoid overcrowding in ticket offices.
  5. The use of a card (credit / debit) at the ticket offices is promoted.

Additional measures on the train (passengers and staff)

  1. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) has been provided to train personnel (masks, gloves, thermometers, trash bags, antiseptics).
  2. Train staff has been instructed on how to deal with a suspicious case on the train, in a way that does not endanger their own safety and the safety of passengers.
  3. Passenger Form has been distributed to obtain the details of the wagon's passengers, in case of a suspicious case in the context of virus tracking.
  4. Train cleaning has been intensified.
  5. Instructions have been given to the cleaning crews for the cleaning of handles, buttons, toilets.
  6. The National Healthcare System's directive of cleaning in non sanitary areas is followed.
  7. Two special disinfection companies are on standby in case of a suspicious case on the train, in order to carry out immediate disinfection.
  8. Reducing itineraries allows more time to be given to cleaning. Cleaning staff is provided throughout the trip.
  9. Air conditioner filters are cleaned more often (per week) in accordance with the manufacturer's protocol.
  10. Magazines and leaflets were removed.
  11. The canteens of the trains operate according to the relevant instructions of the state Bodies.
  12. As an additional precautionary measure, thermal measurements are carried out with thermal cameras, on passengers and staff, at the railway stations of Athens and Thessaloniki.
