Luggage on the Train – What is Allowed

During your journey with Hellenic Train, you may carry hand luggage with you at no extra charge, provided it is intended for your personal use and can be easily transported. These items are classified as hand luggage.

The transport of hand luggage is permitted under the following conditions:

  • Its contents must not violate any applicable prohibitions set by Customs or other Administrative Authorities.
  • They must not cause damage to the rolling stock, due to their nature, shape, and dimensions nor may they disturb or endanger other passengers, or obstruct the transport of other passengers' luggage.

Passengers may place their luggage in the designated storage areas above or below their seats, as well as in the designated luggage compartments – where available – located near the train car entrances.

Indicative dimensions for safe placement of luggage in train storage areas:

  • Medium-sized suitcase: 66 × 44 × 28 cm
  • Duffle bag: 46 × 27 × 30 cm
  • Backpack: up to 30 cm in height

Please note:

  • Passengers are solely responsible for the safekeeping of their hand luggage.
  • Hellenic Train bears no responsibility for loss or damage unless caused by its own fault.
  • The passenger is liable for any damage caused by their luggage to the rolling stock or to third parties, unless such damage is due to the company’s fault.
