Press Release Document – 6th Training on Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS)
Hellenic Train, a member of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS) Group, the third largest railway company in Europe, in collaboration with the UIC (International Union of Railways), organized the 6th Training on Commuter and Regional Train Services, at the Wyndham Grand Athens Hotel, in Athens, on 25, 26 and 27 October 2023.
The main objective of the training was to provide participants with an accurate and comprehensive overview on Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS) all around the world, as well as the latest challenges these services face to the new passengers’ behavior.
Focused on a Customer Centricity – Evolutionary Scenario, the trainees had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS), to exchange experiences and through a dynamic “Design Thinking” process to participate in the decision-making process through the analysis of five different case studies.
Twenty-nine speakers participated from all over the world. The Greek speakers were: Ms. Tsiaparikou Ioanna, President of the Regulatory Authority for Railways (RAS), Dr. Ayfantopoulou Georgia, Research Director – Deputy Director HIT of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH)/Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) by Ms. Annie Kortsari, Research Associate at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT)/Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Ms. Mavroudi Maria, Commercial Director of the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) and Mr. Tolias Theodoros, Commercial Director of Passenger Transportation at Hellenic Train.
At the opening of the 6th Training on Commuter and Regional Train Services, on Wednesday 25.10.2023, the CEO of Hellenic Train, Mr. Maurizio Capotorto, welcomed the participants and pointed out that: “The Commuter and Regional trains are in fact those that transport us every day to our work, to schools, to jobs and they are those that form the backbone of our transportation; carrying most of the passengers they are the de facto contributor to the quality of lives of millions of people every day. In this respect, commuter, urban, suburban and regional trains deserve our high attention and care because they - more than any other form of transportation - influence our lives. Efficient commuter trains help drastically in mobility, greener cities and better environment which is a permanent goal of railways”.
