Junior Operational Safety Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring alignment with national and EU railway safety requirements.
• Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of safety procedures, manuals, and operational instructions.
• support risk assessments, including hazard identification, evaluation, and follow-up of mitigation measures.
• Participating in incident investigations
• Monitor safety performance indicators and prepare periodic reports for management review
• Support the certification and compliance activities of the Operational Safety & Certification Control department.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, logs, and documentation within the SMS.
• Contribute to safety training materials and awareness initiatives as required.
• Support the preparation of safety reports to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
• Support internal audits and SMS performance assessments.
• Participate in safety meetings, committees, and working groups.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering, Transport Systems or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluency in Greek (native or excellent level)
• Proficient in English
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Understanding of risk management principles

Desired Qualifications

• Familiarity with railway systems and railway operation procedures
• Understanding of EU railway safety regulations, operational rules, and industrial standards.
• Experience with management systems (e.g., Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems, or Environmental Management Systems).
• Training or experience in incident investigation
